The fact that only 46 years separate the first ever liquid fueled rocket and the announcement of the SPACE SHUTTLE program is nothing short of incredible.

Things moved really fast in the 20th century. We went from riding in horsedrawn carriages and living in homes with coal stoves and oil lamps to tailfinned landyachts, TV, and radiant heating in the space of 50 years.
